  • Colored glass: usually you can find some babbles inside, bright color and shiny.
  • Plating stone: a bad quality jade stone is plated with a layer of nice green cover to mislead the consumers. While if you observe closely you sill can find small clues. If you can some small fine cracks colored with blue in green, then it is a faux jade. Because during the plating, some small fine cracks will be left.
  • Jade powder& crystal plus brine: The specific gravity is quit different between natural jade and artificial one. Nature jade is 3.3-3.4, but artificial one is only 2.8. So you can weigh it on hand or scale to tell the difference.

Moreover there are some general rules to follow:

  1. If its glass, you wont see the high or round relief;
  2. Observing under magnifier, if you find any air babble then it is fake;
  3. If it is artificial made, the color wont be as pure and natural as the real one. Especially the sound and echo of the fake one will be more dull and without metal quality.

Fake jade usually feels more light and warmer than the real one.
